Action Learning Success Stories
Over the past 12 years, WIAL's Action Learning approach has elevated the performance of hundreds of organizations worldwide including Caterpillar, Booz Allen Hamilton, Boeing, Samsung, LG Electronics, Alcoa, US Departments of State, Energy and Agriculture, Hong Kong Transit, National Institutes of Health, Singapore Airlines, IBM, Nokia, Constellation Energy, Siemens, Posco Steel, International Labor Organization, and SulAmerica Insurance.
Many universities around the world have also incorporated the WIAL model into their curricula and learning methodology, including the Singapore Institute of Management University (UNISIM).

Constellation Energy
Constellation Energy has developed a cadre of Action Learning coaches who are available to managers whenever a critical challenge or problem emerges for which they would like a quick and creative strategy.
Constellation has used Action Learning to address issues such as work schedules, plant safety and organizational structuring.

US Department of Agriculture
The US Department of Agriculture initiated its first action learning programs in 2001 to develop leaders in their Washington, D.C. and State offices. High-potential officials identified the three leadership skills which were most important to them and developed these skills while working on important USDA problems. Subsequent research showed that all officials developed the skills they had identified.
The US Department of Agriculture has expanded the use of Action Learning to build teams and to change the corporate culture.

Boeing
Boeing has utilized Action Learning as the key tool for developing their high potential leaders. Action learning teams have developed strategies for major global corporate challenges relative to Boeing's projects in China, Australia, Italy, Germany and Korea.
The Executive Council has found Action Learning teams to be so innovative and successful that they have offered these teams the latitude to select action learning projects, a decision that previously rested in the HR department. Post-project research has shown Action Learning participants exercising 2-3 years later the leadership skills gained during their action learning projects.

National Community Leadership Institute (NACLI)
NACLI use Action Learning to help grassroots leaders work with residents to their solve their community issues through the use of Action Learning.
NACLI firmly believe in the WIAL Action Learning process and has sent 8 of their senior management staff to be certified as Action Learning Coaches.
Action Learning is also part of the leadership program undertaken by grassroots leaders.

Singapore Police Force
The Singapore Police Force has equipped its in house facilitators with the Action Learning skills to facilitate their leadership forums within the SPF.
Action Learning is also used as an OD intervention to support the land division to create better team synergies and effectiveness.

Action Learning is part of the leadership development program of the Singapore Prison Service.
Action Learning is taught to senior leaders as part of the Basic Officers Course and the Superintendent Leadership Program. Action Learning has been used to develop teams within the various institutions. |

As schools embark on the Professional Learning Community (PLC) journey, one of the processes it as adopted is the Action Learning process. Action Learning is aligned to the 3 big ideas of PLC, namely :Ensuring Students Learn, culture of Collaboration and focus on Outcomes.
The Action Learning process is used to help Learning Teams (LT) determine the research question and the root cause of the problem in order to enhance student learning. The AL structure leverages on the small group structures of PLC and together with other facilitation processes, teachers work collaboratively to meet the PLC objectives. |
